World-Wide Business Centres, Inc., established in New York City in 1970, pioneered the
provisions of instantly available furnished and staffed office space for occupancy on a totally flexible basis. A full range of back office services addressing current needs were, and continue to be, available on a paid by use basis. At the outset these included personalized telephone answering, reception, meeting room, copying, telex, and typing services. Over the past forty years they have expanded in nature and sophistication to include virtual office, administration, internet, conference and break out, training, meeting and event space services.
In addition to its 20 year relationship with The American-Scottish Foundation®, WWBC
has hosted the Dreyfus Foundation; The Make a Wish Foundation; The William and Mildred Lasdon Foundation and the Leon Lowenstein Foundation. The benefit these foundations and other clients find of value in their relationship with WWBC are identified in the following extract from a letter Camilla Hellman, MBE, the American-Scottish Foundation’s Director of Development, wrote accompanying the Certificate of Appreciation presented to WWBC to acknowledge ASF’s 20th Anniversary as a WWBC client and expressing its gratitude for the services provided during that time.
“World-Wide Business Centres is an extraordinarily important resource for the Foundation, which, like most foundations, has to operate on a very limited budget while needing on short notice and on an unpredictable basis to have access to supplemental resources to accommodate period programmatic demands that exceed the capacity to handle of its staff and volunteers. To have access to WWBC’s support staff to handle event and solicitation mailings; perform mailroom functions; arrange the occasional food and beverage service for visiting dignitaries; setup conference calls for Board meetings; deliver flags and other materials to event locations; and, when necessary, provide swing space for temporary volunteer staffing needs, for client visitors and event storage space has proven both highly efficient as well as very cost effective. We are most appreciative of the many services WWBC and its excellent staff have given us in ways both big and small. On behalf of the Foundation’s Board, management and volunteers, please convey to the staff the fact that their support and kindness is much appreciated.”
